Teaching

Undergraduate

BIOL 3000 Genetics (Spring). This class covers basic genetic concepts starting with transmission genetics and moving to molecular genetics and genomics. Students are challenged to develop problem-solving skills, think critically and exercise scientific curiosity.

Graduate

BIOL 6521 Gene Expression and rDNA Lab (Fall).  This class covers the basics of molecular cloning, starting from basic laboratory techniques and moving to recombinant protein expression.

Workshops

Bioinformatics Bootcamp (Summer). The Bootcamp is a week long workshop emphasizing hands-on training in numerous aspects of next generation DNA sequencing data analyses such as sequence assessment and quality control, genomic and transcriptomic assembly, annotation, differential expression, phylogenomics and more.  Additionally the workshop provides instruction in the linux command-line environment, basic scripting and many widely used software packages.
